Donate to J6 Prisoner Commissaries
Many people ask how they can help the January 6 prisoners. One way is to donate to their prisoner commissary to enable them to buy critical supplies, including extra food, hygiene items, stamps, envelopes, electronic messaging services, shoes, tablets, extra clothes and more. Prisoners are not allowed to bring anything in with them when they enter federal correctional institutions and are only provided with bare essentials such as standard prison garb and a bar of soap.
Some prisoners do not have outside support and rely on the charity of others. Please consider donating to a J6 Prisoner. Your support will help them cope with the hardships of prison life and let them know they have not been forgotten.
Names and ID numbers of MS J6ers is provided on the main page. After selecting a J6er and noting his ID number, complete the steps below to add funds to his commissary account.
Sending money to Federal Bureau of Prison inmates: https://www.bop.gov/inmates/communications.jsp#money
There are two primary ways to donate to the J6ers: direct deposit through services such as Western Union and Money Gram and money orders mailed directly to the Federal Bureau of Prison processing facility. See below for links and step-by-step instructions:
To make a direct deposit to a J6er using Western Union you will first need to set up an account. You will also need the inmate's name and ID number. For MS J6ers you will select "Federal Bureau of Prison" for the "Correctional Facility." [Most J6ers are housed in federal prisons and FBOP will be the correctional facility selected for these inmates regardless of where they are serving out their sentence.]
Go to the Western Union (WU) website or use the WU app. https://www.westernunion.com/us/en/send-money/app/sendinmatestart
Select "Federal Bureau of Prison" for correctional facility.
Enter the donation amount, first name, last name, and inmate number. DO NOT PUT A HYPHEN IN THE INMATE NUMBER. The inmate number also includes the prisoner's last name. For example, 12345509SMITH.
Select "Continue" and enter your payment information. Note funds sent to inmates automatically require "urgent funds" be selected. Payment processing fees will range from $6 to $10 depending on the amount of funds sent.
Remember to "confirm" your order after you have reviewed the information. You will receive a tracking number and transaction details will be stored under your account details. You should also receive an email.
To make a deposit to a J6er via money order, go to the FBOP website https://www.bop.gov/inmates/communications.jsp#money and select the "United States Postal Service" tab.
Money orders must contain the inmate's full name and ID number. For example, Pay To: John Smith #12345-509.
All money orders for inmates detained in federal bureau of prison facilities are mailed to the following address and must be addressed as depicted below:
Federal Bureau of Prisons
Insert Valid Committed Inmate Name
Insert Inmate Eight-Digit Register Number
Post Office Box 474701
Des Moines, Iowa 50947-0001
Money orders purchased from the post office are immediately processed. All other money orders (such as those purchased from a bank or Western Union) are held for two weeks before funds are "released" to the inmate.
Money order fees range from $1 to $3 and the cost of a postage stamp.
Make a copy of your money order and/or keep the stub that accompanies the money order for your records and note the date you mailed the money order.
In addition to donating to prisoner commissary, you can also show your support for January 6 prisoners by donating to a new Give Send Go campaign to purchase Bibles, books, Epoch Times subscriptions, magazines, tablets, radios, shoes, and extra food for J6 prisoners to help them endure the hardships of prison and let them know they have not been forgotten. For more details about this vital project and to make a donation, please go to the GiveSendGo campaign page "Supporting January 6 Prisoners"
This project has already benefited over 100 January 6 prisoners, including those from Mississippi. Our hope is to be able to fill all requests from J6ers and post emergency commissary deposits to those especially in need of support. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these patriots and ease some of the financial burdens on their families.
